At the outset, as I plan to attend the midnight mass and soak in all the positive energy, bonhomie and goodness that a collective prayer and unison of voices and the love of God can bestow upon us and in a week when we all bid goodbye to the old and prepare to welcome the new, let me wish all my near and dear friends and family and my blog readers and followers across my social media channels – A Merry X’Mas and the very best for the year ahead in advance. I hope the new year brings you happiness, good health and a sense of fulfilment in whatever you do -nurture existing relationships, have a clear purpose, and a positive attitude of gratitude about life! Hope all of us unfold new horizons, fulfil new wishes, harbour new hopes and rediscover the strength within us to bring in positive changes in our lives with rewarding opportunities waiting for us in the new year. I wish that this Christmas and the coming New Year turns out to be a very special one for all of us filling each day with a peak of health, abundance, of happiness and sunshine, bountiful and prosperity […]
The next wave of empowerment will be in the areas of inclusion and diversity both in concept and in practice since it is evident that most companies with diverse ecosystems are also the most thriving. There is a need for a more holistic approach towards workplace Equality – shrugging off the whole equal opportunity gimmickry that is merely a façade in many companies considering the factors like gender and pay gaps at play. With the brouhaha around 2012’s Mayan apocalypse safley behind us (barring the occasional crap on “end of the world” shenanigans), the only thing that perhaps ended wasn’t our world but the belief of status quo. Change albeit metaphorical is inevitable and nothing can be more endearing to see it unfold right in front of us. Antiquated industries are getting digitized by the day and the old is getting reinvented to its brand new 21st century avatar. We are seeing this disruption in all aspects of our lives. Change is the real source where empowerment stems from. You should watch Suffragette, a new release. The movie revolves around the early feminist movement demanding equal rights against the backdrop of archaic and misogynist attitudes of society. In more ways than one, the premise and the message the movie conveys can be traced back to the current century and it obviously manifests in […]
Photo-blog: My recent trips to Nordics, Baltics, Germany, Russia and Spain + Poetry: Art in the Sea!
“We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.” – Anonymous I love reiterating quotes that are so stimulating to the mind and senses , especially as they are rooted in my real life experiences because I feel so motivated to explore the world we inhibit. I first became aware of the enthusiasm of traveling as an army kid – my dad is a retired army officer and we were always on the move during his postings every year or two! I was the first one to get super excited about packing my bags and exploring the unknown. To this day travel brings in those fond memories and my family makes sure we travel 3-4 times in the year to places we have never been to – together. It is simply amazing and I am thankful to God for giving me this opportunity time and again and to be able to travel with my loved ones. Touch wood! Traveling is invigorating. And, traveling in the sea even more so. I feel like I belong to the sea and this poem I wrote years back holds true to this fact till date. And there is just one message […]
I have been on a holiday. Cruising to the Nordics, Baltics all the way to Russia and finally culminating a fab holiday in Spain. Some more notes on my recent travels will be up soon on my blog as a photoblog because travel is to create memories.. not to be reduced to a text. This isn’t the end of the holiday season. Fyi.. NO E.F.F.I.N.G WAY! There is a lot more coming ..more exotic locations This also kind of explains why I haven’t been active on the blogging biosphere. Hopefully I will be able to churn out some interesting stuff in the coming months for my readers whilst still being able to find time to work and play! Technology today is not only enhancing experience both virtually and real-time but in many ways also bridging the divide between virtual and real almost becoming surreal. The gap is fast diminishing between the rhetoric and reality albeit still figuring out the notion of human touch. With a proliferation of internet connected devices, Wearables are getting there i.e. at the point of human touch via a technology format where the need is replacing the gimmick du jour. Today Wearables are not about contextualising fashion but are about reinventing the […]
#WomanPower – Learning from International Women’s Day; Leslee Udwin’s BBC documentary – India’s Daughter; UN’s Official Theme
In an extremely hypocritical world, we live in, a single day in a year cannot undo the many prejudices that women struggle to cope with around the world! On one hand, there is massive progression on women’s rights and on the other, parts of the world continue to grapple with women’s right to equality and freedom! Case in point – When it comes to celebrating women’s day, nothing can be more discouraging to see one country propagating women’s right and the other restricting it by deliberating on conservative attitudes towards women! I believe it’s time to focus on women’s issues as a whole rather than focus on the bad in one country or one part of the world. Clearly, the issue of sexual violence against women spans countries and continents. BBC’s documentary ‘India’s Daughter’ addresses this very clear divide between progression Vs. the misogynistic mindsets more like the good Vs. evil! Well, I’m not a feminist and I don’t have any agenda in writing about International Women’s Day.. but as a son to a Mother who has taught me to be respectful and grounded, brother to two most adorable sisters and an uncle to a niece, friend and colleague to incredible […]
